Ron Swanson is Director of the Pawnee Parks and Recreation Department.
As a child, Leslie found a loving, diverse, active family in the many community programs offered by the wonderful city government of Pawnee. She vowed early on to give back to this vibrant and fascinating town by living a life of public service.
Leslie is a proud member of numerous action committees in and around City Hall, including, but not limited to: the Equal Opportunity Committee, the Fun in the Sun Committee, the Clean Restroom Task Force, the Increased Access to Restrooms Task Force, the Handicapped Restroom Task Force, the Committee for Repainting Handicapped Parking Spaces Task Force and the Task Force to Reduce the Number of Public Restrooms.
Leslie graduated in the top 5% of her class at Pawnee North High School. She was Co-Vice President of the student body and a member of Model United Nations, Key Club, Debate Club, Mock Trial, Young Republicans, Young Democrats, Young Independents (founding member), Drama Club, Historical Society, Orchestra, Color Guard and junior varsity field hockey.
Leslie was recently elected to the Pawnee City Council. You can read all about the City Council and the work she is doing here.
Some call Thomas Montgomery Haverford a hero. He calls himself just another public servant doing his best to make sure everyone in the city is healthy, happy and safe. If that makes him a hero, well, then, so be it. He's a hero.
Tom sees himself as a mentor to younger city employees and a motivational figure to older workers who may feel threatened by his charm, talent and youthful vigor. Tom has complete authority over the Pawnee tennis court reservation system. This has brought him into close contact with many attractive female tennis enthusiasts, so he is extremely comfortable interacting with and meeting the needs of women other men might find intimidating. Tom cannot emphasize this point enough.
Tom also has many contacts in and around City Hall. Leading lights of the Pawnee private sector should not hesitate to get in touch with Tom about potential partnerships that could be mutually beneficial. Discretion is one of Tom's greatest strengths.
Tom's heroes include Vin Diesel, Flo Rida and Patrick Jane (the character Simon Baker plays on "The Mentalist").
Tom plays by his own rules.
Asst. to Ron Swanson
April Ludgate-Dwyer was born in Bjork's house in Iceland and grew up on Easter Island, where her parents were giant stone heads. She has the ability to fire beams of tacos out of her hands and she can turn her legs into tigers.
On Sundays, April enjoys reading Family Circus and traveling through time. Her favorite color is greenish-transparent and her favorite movie is the one you just watched.
Donna Meagle is primarily holding it down at the permits desk, but she can be found holding it down all over Pawnee. What is "it"? Probably a good-looking member of the opposite sex. Donna is a busy woman. During the NFL off-season, you can find her in Miami most weekends, so please keep that in mind when putting in a permit request - she will get back to you when she gets back to you.
Also, if you are the guy in City Hall who drives a Prius and parks next to Donna, please start pulling your "car" closer to the wall on your right, Donna's Benz needs to breathe. Thank you.
Jerry Gergich has been working in the Parks Department for over 30 years. He has a lovely wife and three beautiful daughters whom he loves very much. He is happy to do whatever is asked of him around the office, and couldn't be more proud to spend each day with the Parks staff, working to make Pawnee a better place to live. Jerry's most recent project was overseeing the new Parks website information, for which he owes a huge debt of gratitude to Donna Meagle for backing it up on a hard drive. (Crashes happen, especially to this guy - not a computerhead, folks!)
Jerry loves to paint, and while he enjoys the day-to-day thrills that home life brings, that doesn't mean he won't steal a moment for a spontaneous getaway to Muncie with his wife. If you see Jerry around, say hi!
Asst. to Leslie Knope
Andy Dwyer (aka Andy Radical) loves working at the Parks Department. Mr. Radical does whatever Leslie needs him to get done: making copies, doing paperwork, building forts out of boxes, testing her food to make sure no one is trying to poison her. THAT'S what being an assistant/secret agent/spy/aspiring cop/guy still somewhat thinking about returning to shoe-shining is all about!
When he's not at work, you might recognize him as the lead singer and guitarist of Mouse Rat - Pawnee's #1 rock band. Mr. Radical can also be seen around Pawnee with his awesome wife April and the world's best dog Champion.
