Arts and Culture

One of Pawnee’s greatest assets is its thriving arts and cultural community. Here are some upcoming events…

Poetry Jam

  • Express yourself! Don’t hold anything back, as you let rip with your innermost feelings and emotions.
  • PLEASE keep it under ten pages, clean, and family friendly.
  • Approved topics for poems: nature, the seasons, friendly relationships you have with friends, attractive animals, and smiling.
  • Profanity and sexual innuendo will result in prosecution.
    • Every Friday at 6 pm in October.
(Note: There was a question as to whether 6pm is Eastern or Pacific Standard Time. It is Eastern Standard Time. We will always go by what the time is in Pawnee, which is Eastern Standard Time.)

Franklin Pierce Middle School – Fall Show

  • The Pierce Players are at it again! Come see the world of “Pippin” brought to you by the Franklin Pierce Middle School students live on the multi-purpose room stage! The show is directed by social studies teacher Mrs. Elizabeth Shear, who due to lack of interest, will also be playing the role of “Catherine.” Come find your corner of the sky! (That is a line from “Pippin.”)
    • September 20th -October 18th
    • Students: $5 with student ID, Adults: $7, Children: $8

Giggle Hut Improv!

  • Come laugh at Pawnee’s premiere improv group, The Goofy Toozdays, over at The Giggle Hut! The funniest improvisers in Pawnee provide a three-hour show that is sure to have you in stitches. Typical improv games include: “The Dating Game”, “What’s Your Problem?”, “Wrong Number”, and “What’s His Problem?”
    • Every Saturday and Sunday night at 8pm and 11:30pm through November.
(Note: This does not take place on Tuesday. The name of the improv group is the Goofy Toozdays. Sorry for the confusion.)

Pawnee Photo Contest

  • Dust off that camera and get out your photography skills – Pawnee is having its annual photo contest! Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying the beauty and/or unique character of Pawnee.
  • Last year’s winner: David Martin Second prize: Betsy Horlff Third prize: David Martin
